A lo largo de 180 años el discurrir del Museo Nacional de Escultura ha estado en constante evolución. Pintores, un abogado, un periodista y escritor, un arquitecto y finalmente varios especialistas en Historia del Arte han regido los destinos del Museo.
Doce directores han estado al frente de esta institución y cada uno de ellos ha ido aportando su experiencia para adaptarla a las circunstancias históricas. Vemos en este trabajo las iniciativas que abordaron y el modo en que, sobre el marco cultural y político de cada época, fueron consiguiendo hacerlo crecer y enriquecerse como una institución al servicio de las personas.
Over the course of 180 years, the history of the National Museum of Sculpture has been in constant evolution. Painters, a lawyer, a journalist and writer, an architect and finally several specialists in Art History have managed the destinies of the museum. Twelve directors have been at the head of this institution and each of them has contributed with their experience to adapt it to the historical circumstances. We see in this work the initiatives they made and the way in which, based on the cultural and political framework, they managed to make it grow and enrich itself as an institution at the service of the people.
