En este trabajo analizo críticamente la fundamentación ética del capitalismo en la obra de Murray Rothbard y Ayn Rand, centrando la atención en su interpretación de la ley natural. Me propongo mostrar las similitudes en los planteos de ambos autores y delinear sus objetivos específicos, para luego concluir que ni Rand ni Rothbard consiguen alcanzar el objetivo que se proponen. Finalmente, me pregunto si es posible dar una defensa ética del capitalismo o bien debemos conformarnos con una posición pragmática.
In this work, I critically analyze the ethical foundation of capitalism in the work of Murray Rothbard and Ayn Rand, focusing attention on their interpretation of natural law. First of all, I show the similarities in the approaches of both authors, then outline their specific objectives, in order to conclude that neither Rand nor Rothbard manage to achieve them. Finally, I wonder if it is possible to give an ethical defense of capitalism or if we should settle for a pragmatic position.
