La protesta social constituye un recurso fundamental para visibilizar disensos y alternativas en las democracias contemporáneas, especialmente en coyunturas críticas. En este artículo nos interesamos por su devenir en la escala local, prestando especial atención a una ciudad intermedia de fuerte perfil agrocomercial en el interior de Argentina a lo largo de tres momentos álgidos del siglo XXI. La metodología combina técnicas cuantitativas y cualitativas, tomando como principales fuentes de información documentos y periódicos como el diario local Puntal. Para avanzar en el procesamiento de datos se confeccionaron fichas de relevamiento que atendían a la frecuencia de las protestas, sus protagonistas, demandas y formatos de acción.
Como hallazgo central se destaca que, si bien la mayoría de las iniciativas respondieron a cambios o medidas de orden nacional, desde la escala local se le imprimieron rasgos específicos que contribuyeron a reafirmar el carácter situado de la protesta. Finalmente, advertimos la permanente interrelación entre las diferentes dimensiones de la dinámica protestataria y el contexto político-económico.
Social protest is a fundamental tool to make dissent and alternatives visible in contemporary democracies, especially in critical moments. In this article, we focus on its evolution at the local scale, paying special attention to a mid-sized city with a strong agro-commercial profile, located in the interior of Argentina, throughout three key moments of the 21st century. The methodology combines quantitative and qualitative techniques, using documents and newspapers as main sources of information, with the local newspaper Puntal standing out. To process the data, survey sheets were created that recorded the frequency of protests, their protagonists, demands, and forms of action. The main finding highlights that although most initiatives responded to national-level changes or measures, specific traits were shaped from the local scale, reaffirming the situated nature of protest. Finally, we emphasize the constant interrelation between the different dimensions of protest dynamics and the political-economic context.
