This paper addresses the problems arising from the confusion of the boundaries of adjoining properties belonging to different owners, and the solution provided in Roman law through the actio finium regundorum. The paper examines the nature and characteristics of the action and the situations it faces; on the one hand, identifying the old signs that separated the properties (iter limitare) and drawing new ones if none are found; and also the claimant's right to recover lands that were usurped by the defendant beyond the boundaries of the property separation required by law. In connection with this topic, the case of voluntary alteration of the signs separating the properties and their replacement by means of a popular criminal action called actio de termino moto is analyzed.
