In this paper the revised Directive on Deployment of Alternative Fuels Infrastructure (AFIR) together with the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) is analysed as they establish mandatory national targets leading to the deployment of sufficient alternative fuels infrastructure in the Union for road vehicles, trains, vessels and stationary aircraft and to the deployment of shore-side electricity supply at both inland and maritime ports ensuring an efficient, multimodal, and high-quality transport infrastructure across the EU.
Furthermore, Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) aimed to incentivise a zero-emission mobility and to promote a transport urban scheme as well as the essential role of blockchain technology in the realization of smart ports with special attention in the simplification and digitalization of logistics and port operations are considered and analysed.
