In this paper we will study the process of mapping territories and the main political consequences it entails. We will integrate in the map concept proposed by Estrella de Diego, the channel of Jesús Ibáñez and the smooth and striated spaces of Deleuze and Guattari. Then, we will extract four functions in the mapping process: attribution, appropriation, distribution and expropriation. Through three significant contemporary artworks, we will reflect on the problem of colonialism, hunger and racism. Finally, in the conclusions, we will use the episode of the levellers in England as an example of a subversive way to fight against the domination of maps over territories.
