The University, as an institution that legitimizes knowledge, establishes lines of research that guide the development of scientific work, creating spaces for discussion that strengthen critical and analytical reflection on the social environment toward the search for alternative solutions and substantial improvements. The purpose of the study was to analyze lines of research in higher education in response to the demands of the knowledge society. Documentary research was conducted through the systematization and analysis of scientific articles and reference bibliographic sources in JCR databases and/or Scopus, Scielo, and Latindex, the most visible sources. The results were a total of 21 articles and 6 books published in prestigious universities, with quality and relevance as the selection criteria. The findings reveal the significant importance of the curricular administrative processes that regulate the connection of lines of research to the development and scope of research, conditioned by the current circumstances of the social and labor context. It is concluded that the University and society are intertwined in the construction and administration of lines of research, supported by curricular proposals for improvement and contribution from knowledge to face the challenges of globalization
La Universidad como institución de legitimación del conocimiento, instituye líneas de investigación que encaminan el desarrollo de trabajos científicos, creando espacios de discusión que fortalecen la reflexión crítica y analítica del entorno social hacia la búsqueda de alternativas de solución y mejoras substanciales. El propósito del estudio consistió en analizar las líneas de investigación en la educación superior frente a las demandas de la sociedad del conocimiento. Se realizó una investigación de naturaleza documental mediante la sistematización y análisis de artículos científicos y fuentes bibliográficas referenciales en bases de datos JCR y/o Scopus, Scielo y Latindex como fuentes de mayor visibilidad. Como resultado se obtuvo un total de 21 artículos y 6 libros publicados en prestigiosas universidades, siendo los criterios de selección, la calidad y pertinencia. Los hallazgos revelan la trascendencia significativa en los procesos administrativos curriculares que regulan el vínculo de las líneas en el desarrollo y alcance de investigaciones, condicionadas por las circunstancias coyunturales del contexto social y laboral. Se concluye que, la Universidad y la sociedad se entrelazan en la construcción y administración de líneas de investigación, amparadas en las propuestas curriculares de mejora y contribución desde el conocimiento para afrontar los desafíos de la globalización.
