El texto de Casado Velarde “Lenguaje y Cultura” (1991), analiza la interrelación de Lenguaje y Cultura en las diferentes corrientes, que se han ocupado del estudio de la lingüística moderna. Su lectura me evocó a Don Beny, un pescador de las ciénagas de Ayapel que me confrontó con una simple pregunta mientras filmábamos un atardecer para un documental ecológico. Tiempo después, este hombre sencillo y ejemplar me ayuda a comprender la dicotomía y puntos ciegos (Bedoya, 2016) del enfoque dualista y racionalista del pensamiento dominante en occidente, que de alguna manera podría mostrar sus vacíos, para la observación y comprensión de otras formas posibles de ver y comprender el mundo por medio del lenguaje.
The text of Casado Velarde "Language and Culture" (1991), analyzes the interrelation of Language and Culture in the different currents, which have dealt with the study of modern linguistics. His reading reminded me of Don Beny, a fisherman from the marshes of Ayapel who confronted me with a simple question while filming a sunset for an ecological documentary. Sometime later, this simple and exemplary man helps me to understand the dichotomy and blind spots (Bedoya, 2016) of the dualist and rationalist approach of the dominant thought in the West, which could somehow show its emptiness, for the observation and understanding of other forms possible to see and understand the world through language.
