La Mesa del Parlamento se Cataluña admitió a trámite una iniciativa legislativa popular cuyo objeto era la separación unilateral de la comunidad autónoma respecto del resto de España. El Tribunal Constitucional, a instancia del Gobierno de la nación, suspendió cautelarmente dicho acuerdo y, posteriormente, lo declaró nulo e inconstitucional por pretender dicha iniciativa una reforma de la Lex legum sin respetar el procedimiento establecido para ello.
The Bureau of the Parliament of Catalonia admitted for processing a pop-ular legislative initiative whose object was the unilateral separation of the Autonomous Community from the rest of Spain. The Constitutional Court, at the request of the Government of the Nation, suspended that agreement as a precautionary measure and subsequently declared it null and void and unconstitutional on the grounds that the initiative sought to reform the Lex legum without respecting the procedure established for that purpose
