Parece evidente que el formato cortometraje cumple una función básica para cualquier creador audiovisual, especialmente para aquellos que lo convierten en una primera toma de contacto con la imagen. Partiendo primero de una contextualización general de este tipo de producciones, y atendiendo luego al ámbito hispanohablante, este artículo analiza el cortometraje universitario como producto de creación, examinando para ello una muestra de trabajos presentados en distintas ediciones del veterano Festival de Cortos AdN, que, además, desde la gala número xviii tiene carácter internacional. Comparando las obras presentadas por los estudiantes españoles con las recibidas en su momento de los alumnos de los tres primeros países extranjeros invitados al festival (Perú, República Dominicana y México), se pretende evaluar si entre las diferentes cinematografías −que hablan el mismo idioma− se establecen motores culturales de identificación, y si los géneros, temáticas y preocupaciones sociales de los jóvenes creadores de estos países guardan algún tipo de relación
It is evident that the short film format fulfills a basic function for any audiovisual creator, especial-ly for those for whom it represents their first contact with the moving image. Starting with a gener-al contextualization of this type of productions, and then focusing on the Spanish-speaking world, this article analyzes the university short film as a creative product, examining a selection of works presented in different editions of the veteran AdN Short Film Festival, which, since its 18th edition, has an international character. Comparing the works presented by Spanish students with those re-ceived at the time from students from the first three foreign countries invited to the festival (Peru, Dominican Republic and Mexico), the aim is to evaluate whether the different cinematographies −which share the same language− act as cultural engines of identification, and whether the genres, themes and social concerns of the young creators of these countries are related in any way
