El presente artículo repasa un estudio de la CNMC (2025) sobre el sector de la formación vial. La formación vial tiene una gran relevancia económica y social y está sujeta a una regulación muy restrictiva, que busca preservar la seguridad vial. El análisis muestra que existe margen para mejorar el funcionamiento del sector desde la óptica de la competencia y la regulación eficiente, sin necesidad de comprometer este fin. Para ello, se realiza una serie de recomendaciones encaminadas a: i) flexibilizar el régimen de enseñanza de la conducción, ii) facilitar la apertura de centros de formación para conductores, iii) facilitar el acceso a las profesiones relacionadas con la actividad, iv) mejorar la gestión de la capacidad de examen, y v) promover activamente una competencia efectiva en los mercados
The present article reviews a study by the CNMC (2025) on the road training sector. Road training has great economic and social relevance and is subject to very restrictive regulations, which seek to preserve road safety. The analysis shows that there is room to improve the functioning of the sector from the perspective of competition and efficient regulation, without compromising this goal. To this end, a series of recommendations are made aimed at: i) flexibilizing the driving education regime, ii) facilitating the opening of driver training centers, iii) facilitating access to professions related to the activity, iv) improving the management of exam capacity, and v) actively promoting effective competition in the markets.
