A pocos años del quincuagésimo aniversario de la Constitución, ninguna de las instituciones en las que se articula la ordenación del poder en nuestro Estado constitucional ha visto modificada su regulación constitucional. Pero mientras que el legislador ha ido adecuando el funcionamiento de casi todas ellas, la Corona es la única que no ha sido objeto de tal ‘actualización’. En este sentido la relectura de las reflexiones de Manuel García Pelayo realizadas en tres escritos inéditos que se publican en el libro El Rey (Tecnos, 2024), nos descubren pautas para abordar nuevas cuestiones y resolver viejos conflictos en torno a la figura del Rey.
Just a few years away from the fiftieth anniversary of the Constitution, none of the institutions that structure the distribution of power in our constitutional state has seen its constitutional regulation modified. Yet, while the legislature has gradually adjusted the functioning of almost all of them, the Crown remains the only one that has not undergone such an ‘update.’ In this context, rereading the reflections of Manuel García Pelayo—found in three previously unpublished writings now included in the book El Rey (Tecnos, 2024)—reveals guidelines for addressing new issues and resolving longstanding conflicts surrounding the figure of the King.
