This article, through field research and national and foreign bibliographic studies, proposes to analyze the Representative Associations of consumer defense as a channel for the participation of civil society in the direct defense of their rights, which has advanced mechanisms of judicial and extrajudicial defense, able to protect the rights of the consumer class as a category. From a vision of solidarity and under the bias of a deliberative democracy, the civil society assumes a greater role in the scope of the National Policy of Consumer Relations, starting to act in a plural and collective way with a view to improving the prevention and repression of consumer conflicts. Furthermore, in order to understand the degree of civic involvement in civil society in Pará, it’s intended to present a regional panorama of the activities of civil associations in the collective defense of consumers in the State of Pará.
O presente artigo, através de pesquisa de campo e estudo bibliográfico nacional e estrangeiro, propõe-se a analisar as Associações Representativas de defesa do consumidor como um canal de participação da sociedade civil na defesa direta de seus direitos, a qual dispõe de mecanismos avançados de defesa judicial e extrajudicial, aptos a tutelar os direitos da classe consumidora enquanto categoria. A partir de uma visão solidária e sob o viés de uma democracia deliberativa, a sociedade civil assume um maior protagonismo no âmbito da Política Nacional das Relações de Consumo, passando atuar de forma plural e coletiva com vistas a aprimorar a prevenção e repressão de conflitos de consumo. Ademais, a fim de compreender o grau de envolvimento cívico da sociedade civil paraense, pretende-se apresentar um panorama regional de atuação das associações civis na defesa coletiva de consumidores no âmbito do Estado do Pará.
