A dignidade da pessoa humana vem alçando um protagonismo jamais verificado na história. Por sua vez, os debates acerca do caráter absoluto ou relativo da dignidade da pessoa humana na ordem jurídico-constitucional são atuais e relevantes. Seja na condição de princípio ou de direito fundamental, vêm ganhando destaque as discussões sobre a possibilidade de se estabelecerem restrições à dignidade da pessoa humana. Nesse contexto, o presente artigo visa propor algumas reflexões sobre até que ponto a dignidade da pessoa humana, especialmente na sua condição de princípio e/ou direito fundamental, pode efetivamente ser tida como absoluta, ou admite-se a sua relativização diante de circunstâncias específicas? É possível, com o escopo de proteger a dignidade de alguém, restringir a dignidade de outrem? Para o desenvolvimento do presente estudo, foi apresentada a contribuição de Robert Alexy.Palavras-chave: Dignidade da pessoa humana; caráter absoluto ou relativo; teoria de Robert Alexy; ponderação, direitos fundamentais.Abstract: The dignity of the human person comes by lifting one ever checked role in history. In turn, the debates about the absolute or relative character of human dignity in the legal and constitutional order are current and relevant. Whether as principle or fundamental right, have been gaining prominence discussions on the possibility of establishing restrictions on human dignity. In this context, this article proposes some reflections on the extent to which the dignity of the human person, especially in its first condition and / or fundamental right, can effectively be taken as absolute or admits to his relativity before specific circumstances? It is possible, with the aim of protecting the dignity of someone, restrict the dignity of others?
