Brasil
The article is based on the self-assessment of Brazilian transportation platform workers (TPTs). It combines methodologies with both quantitative and qualitative approaches, drawing on microdata from the “Platform Workers” module of the PNAD-C (Brazil) and 22 interviews with drivers and 21 with delivery workers (bicycle and motorcycle) conducted in Rio de Janeiro between October 2023 and March 2024. We explore the contrast between regulated work and platform-based work. While there are significant nuances, we conclude that TPTs generally express a relative satisfaction with their work, particularly in terms of their perceived autonomy in organizing work schedules and the absence of direct subordination.
The article is based on the self-assessment of digital transport platform workers (TPT) in Brazil. It combines quantitative and qualitative methodologies based on microdata from the original 'Platform Workers' module of the national employment survey and 43 interviews with drivers and bicycle and motorbike delivery workers conducted in Rio de Janeiro between October 2023 and March 2024. We explore the contrast between regulated and platform work. Although with important nuances, we conclude that TPTs' assessment of their work is one of relative satisfaction, especially how they perceive their autonomy in the organisation of the working day and the absence of direct subordination.
