Bailén, municipio situado al norte de la provincia de Jaén, experimenta cambios en sus bases económicas y sociales a todo lo largo del siglo XIX que, en consonancia con los que se producen a nivel nacional, modifican estas estructuras. Nuevas vías de comunicación, las desamortizaciones, la quiebra económica de las casas nobiliarias de Osuna y Alba, el negocio minero, la extensión del olivar, la aparición de la alfarería como nueva fuente de negocios y a llegada de nuevos emprendedores lo protagonizan. Los comienzos del siglo XX heredan estos cambios y construyen un nuevo sistema socioeconómico.
Bailen, a municipality located on the north of the province of Jaen, underwent changes on its socials and economical bases all along the 19th century that, in harmony with thosc changes, happened at a national level, modified these structures. New ways of communications, the alienations, the bankrupty of the nobiliarity Houses of Osuna and Alba, the mining business, the extensions of olive plantations, the appearance of the pottery as a new source of business and the arrival of new enterprisings lead the century. The beginning of 20th century inherited these changes and built a new socioeconomic system.
