Este artículo explora el papel del factor empresarial y su importancia en la economía, enfatizando la hetero- geneidad de los agentes que participan en la función empresarial. Se distingue entre el autoempleo, en general, y el emprendimiento de alto impacto, argumen- tando que una promoción del autoempleo orientada al crecimiento debe conseguir que aquellos individuos con el talento potencial para desarrollar proyectos innova- dores y orientados al mercado opten por emprender, en detrimento del trabajo por cuenta ajena. Se destaca la relevancia de cierto tipo de talento y la necesidad de políticas que no solo promuevan la densidad del tejido, sino también su calidad. Finalmente, se plantea la im- portancia de diseñar un contexto favorable y estraté- gicamente orientado hacia el emprendimiento de alto impacto –ecosistema de emprendimiento– como motor de crecimiento y factor de competitividad regional
This article explores the role of the entrepreneurial f a c t o r a n d i t s i m p o r t a n c e i n t h e e c o n o m y , emphasizing the heterogeneity of agents involved in the entrepreneur ia l func tion. It dis ting uis hes between self-employment, in general, and high-impact entrepreneurship, arguing that growth-oriented self- employment promotion must encourage individuals with the potential talent to develop innovative, market- oriented projects to choose entrepreneurship over wage employment. The relevance of certain types of talent and the need for policies that not only promote the densit y of the entrepreneurial fabric but also its qualit y is highlighted. F inally, the impor tance o f d e s i g n i n g a f a v o r a b l e c o n t e x t s t r a t e g i c a l l y oriented towards high-impact entrepreneurship–an entrepreneurial ecosystem–as a driver of growth and a factor of regional competitiveness is presented
