Los cambios en la sociedad costarricense han traído consigo nuevas demandas a la acción institucional, incluyendo también al Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones (TSE). Desde 2010, el TSE asume un papel activo en la formación en democracia y promoción de la cultura cívica con la creación del Instituto de Formación y Estudios en Democracia (IFED) dentro de su estructura. Changes in Costa Rican society have brought about new demands for institutional action, including also the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE). Since 2010, the TSE has assumed an active role in training in democracy and promotion of civic culture with the creation of the Institute for Training and Studies in Democracy (IFED) within its structure. This article describes the operation of IFED in 13 years with emphasis on the function of training in democracy, the most important actions that have been carried out, the scope and the main challenges faced in this area
