Desde un primer instante, el auxilio social se convirtió en un objetivo prioritario en la acción de gobierno franquista. Como muestra, podemos señalar que el 9 de enero de 1937 se creó este subsidio para las familias de quienes se alistaron en el Ejército Regular o en las milicias voluntarias. Se trató de un impuesto o recargo de tipo indirecto que, gravando determi-nadas formas de consumo, permitió la formación de un fondo destinado a socorrer a quienes más lo necesitasen, sin perjuicio de los premios otorgados a los combatientes una vez terminada la campaña.
From the first moment, social aid became a priority objective in the Franco government's actions. As an example, we can point out that on January 9, 1937, this subsidy was created for the families of those who enlisted in the Regular Army or volunteer militias. It was an indirect tax or surcharge that, by taxing certain forms of consumption, allowed the formation of a fund destined to help those who needed it most, without prejudice to the prizes awarded to the combatants once the campaign was over.
