El acercamiento al género biográfico, cuando se refiere a la vida, obra y opiniones de los filósofos de la Antigüedad, se conforma como un género con una tipología diferencial en la medida en la que su narrativa sobre la vida de los filósofos se configura como una introducción a la hermenéutica de sus filosofías. En este artículo trataremos de argumentar sobre la relevancia de estas biografías entendidas como instrumento que complementa, a la par que configura, la filosofía de los pensadores de la Antigüedad, frente a una visión historicista de la biografía como un género que precisa de la contrastación de los hechos.
The approach to the biographical genre, when referring to the life, work, and opinions of ancient philosophers, constitutes a genre with a distinctive typology to the extent that its narrative about the philosophers' lives serves as an introduction to the hermeneutics of their philosophies. In this article, we will attempt to argue about the relevance of these biographies understood as an instrument that complements, while shaping, the philosophy of ancient thinkers, in contrast to a historicist view of biography as a genre that requires the verification of facts.
