Los estudios sobre motivaciones en el voluntariado han abordado la comprensión limitada de los factores que impulsan la participación en estas actividades. Esta bibliometría analiza las tendencias investigativas sobre motivaciones para el voluntariado entre 1965 y 2024, con el fin de orientar futuras agendas investigativas. Mediante un análisis bibliométrico basado en fuentes secundarias y siguiendo los protocolos PRISMA-2020, se evaluó la producción científica en este campo. El análisis muestra un interés creciente, especialmente en los últimos años, con un aumento exponencial en la producción.
Se identifican referentes teóricos clave y una evolución temática que transita de enfoques tradicionales a contemporáneos, destacando temas como la motivación y la juventud. También se identifican clústeres temáticos relacionados con el voluntariado y el turismo, y emergen conceptos como la Ciencia Ciudadana y la Teoría de la Autodeterminación, subrayando su relevancia en la investigación actual.
Studies on motivations for volunteering have addressed the limited understanding of the factors that drive participation in these activities. This bibliometrics analyzes research trends on motivations for volunteering between 1965 and 2024 to guide future research agendas. Through a bibliometric analysis based on secondary sources and following the PRISMA-2020 protocols, the scientific production in this field was evaluated. The analysis shows a growing interest, especially in recent years, with an exponential increase in production. Key theoretical references and a thematic evolution from traditional to contemporary approaches are identified, highlighting topics such as motivation and youth. Thematic clusters related to volunteering and tourism are also identified, and concepts such as Citizen Science and Self-Determination Theory emerge, highlighting their relevance in current research.
