The objective of the research is to make known the importance of media literacy in education, where the analysis and understanding of the messages transmitted by different media is promoted, interpreting them for better decision making. A bibliographic review was presented, where different databases were used, such as: Scopus, Wos, Dialnet, Redalyc, researches from the year 2000 to 2020, there were 40 validated researches due to the importance of the information and articles of English and Spanish languages were considered. It is concluded that media literacy is crucial in basic and higher education, which are responsible for providing the so-called media education, in which media knowledge is established in students based on their exegesis of information. In short, the goal of media education is the responsible, reflective and critical handling of information.
La investigación tiene como objetivo dar a conocer la importancia de la alfabetización mediática en la educación, donde se promueva el análisis y comprensión de los mensajes que nos transmiten diversos medios de comunicación, interpretándolos para la mejor toma de decisiones. Se presentó una revisión bibliográfica, donde se emplearon diferentes bases de datos, tales como: Scopus, Wos, Dialnet, Redalyc, investigaciones desde el año 2000 al 2020, hubo 40 investigaciones validadas por la importancia de la información y fueron consideradas artículos de idiomas inglés y español. Se concluye que la alfabetización mediática resulta crucial en la educación básica y superior quienes tienen la responsabilidad de otorgar la llamada educación en medios, en la que se establece el conocimiento mediático en los estudiantes a partir de la exégesis que estos hagan de la información. En síntesis, educar en medios tiene como meta el manejo responsable, reflexivo y crítico de la información.
