Las relaciones Venezuela-Irán se formalizaron el 9 de agosto de 1950, cuya primera etapa hasta 1999 estuvo enmarcada, básicamente, por los vínculos generados de la participación de ambos países en la OPEP. Con la llegada de Hugo Chávez Frías al poder en 1999 y de Mahmud Ahmadineyad en 2005, los lazos de intercambio y cooperación se fortalecieron. Por ello, el presente artículo tiene como objetivo analizar las relaciones venezolano-iraní durante el período 1999-2013, partiendo de los postulados teóricos de la historia reciente y de las relaciones internacionales, bajo un enfoque metodológico histórico-documental.Recibido: 21-7-24 / Aprobado:10-8-24
Relations between Venezuela and Iran were formalized on August 9, 1950, and their first phase, until 1999, was characterized by the ties generated by the participation of both countries in OPEC. With the coming to power of Hugo Chávez Frías in 1999 and Mahmud Ahmadineyad in 2005, the exchange and cooperation ties were strengthened. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to analyze Venezuelan-Iranian relations during the period 1999-2013, based on the theoretical postulates of recent history and international relations, under a historical-documentary methodological approach.
