En el presente artículo hacemos un rastreo histórico de la constitución de las fuerzas armadas de la República Democrática del Congo en el largo plazo, enfatizando las continuidades e inercia institucional que han marcado la fisonomía contemporánea de los militares congoleses. En este sentido, buscamos las raíces de la sistemática rapacidad, enfrentamiento civil-militar, lealtades paralelas, instrumentalización de la etnicidad y violencia de género en la administración colonial y las posteriores transformaciones institucionales. Destacamos en este sentido los ciclos de impunidad como un mantenimiento del problemático funcionamiento de estas fuerzas, donde los procesos de desmovilización y profesionalización solo las han ratificado.Recibido: 24-6-24 / Aprobado: 10-7-24
In this article, we make a historical tracing of the constitution of the armed forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the long term, emphasizing the continuities and institutional inertia that have marked the contemporary physiognomy of the Congolese military. In this sense, we search for the roots of systematic rapacity civil-military confrontation, parallel loyalties, the instrumentalization of ethnicity and gender violence in the colonial administration and subsequent institutional transformations. In this sense, we highlight the cycles of impunity as the maintenance of the problematic functioning of these forces, where the processes of demobilization and professionalization have only ratified them.
