Actualmente, el análisis de las variables y los indicadores que describen la evolución de un destino turístico permite diagnosticar su estado de desarrollo y contribuye a su planificación en aras de alcanzar los objetivos trazados. La presente investigación se realizó con el objetivo de establecer las variables y los indicadores para evaluar el nivel de desarrollo de los destinos turísticos de Cuba. Se utilizó un procedimiento metodológico propio, conformado por tres fases y siete etapas, en las que se emplearon el método de expertos, revisión bibliográfica y entrevistas. A partir de este análisis inicial y de la revisión bibliográfica, se recopiló un conjunto de variables e indicadores potenciales; posteriormente, se definieron 22 variables claves, con sus correspondientes indicadores, en función de criterios de evaluación. Como resultado final se establecieron las variables claves y los indicadores óptimos que describen el nivel de desarrollo de los destinos turísticos; así mismo, se evaluó la viabilidad de su aplicación en el destino Cuba.
Currently, the analysis of variables and indicators that describe the evolution of a tourist destination allows diagnosing its state of development and contributes to its planning in order to achieve the objectives set. The present investigation was carried out with the objective of establishing the variables and indicators to evaluate the level of development of tourist destinations in Cuba. An own methodological procedure was used, consisting of three phases and seven stages, in which the expert method, bibliographic review and interviews were used. Based on this initial analysis and the bibliographic review, a set of potential variables and indicators was compiled, and later 22 key variables were defined with their corresponding indicators based on evaluation criteria. As a result, the key variables and optimal indicators that describe the level of development of tourist destinations were established, evaluating the viability of their application in the Cuba destination.
