Este estudio examina las opiniones de estudiantes de secundaria en Indonesia sobre el enfrentamiento entre Indonesia y Malasia durante 1962-1966. Utilizando la teoría fundamentada, se recopilaron datos mediante entrevistas en profundidad con estudiantes, seguidas de un análisis inductivo para identificar temas clave y desarrollar una teoría sobre sus interpretaciones del conflicto. Los resultados revelan perspectivas diversas, influenciadas por la educación formal, el entorno social, la cultura y los medios de comunicación. Muchos estudiantes ven el conflicto como parte de la historia de la lucha nacional y los valores patrióticos, mientras que otros lo relacionan con la relevancia de las relaciones internacionales actuales. La integración de la teoría de la socialización política y estudios previos permite comprender mejor cómo se forman las opiniones políticas de los estudiantes. Este trabajo destaca la necesidad de una educación histórica inclusiva y el uso de medios diversos para fortalecer la comprensión estudiantil sobre la diplomacia internacional. Sin embargo, el estudio está limitado por su muestra reducida y enfoque cualitativo, sugiriendo futuras investigaciones con mayor amplitud poblacional y enfoques metodológicos variados.
This research investigates the views of senior high school students in Indonesia regarding the indonesia-malaysia confrontation in the 1962-1966 period. The Grounded Theory approach in this study involves collecting data through in-depth interviews with diverse high school students, followed by inductive analysis to identify key themes and develop a theory on how students interpret the indonesia-malaysia confrontation. The analysis results show that students have various perspectives on this conflict, influenced by formal education, social influences, culture, and mass media. Most students identified the conflict as part of the history of national struggle and the values of patriotism, while others assessed its relevance in modern international relations. The integration of political socialization theory withfindings from previous research deepens understanding of the complexity of the process of forming students' political views. The implications of this research include the importance of increasing inclusive history education and involving diverse educational media to strengthen students' understanding of international diplomacy. Limitations of the study include a limited sample and focus on a qualitative approach, which suggests further research involving a broader population and different methodological approaches.
