Assesses some of the guidelines for international commercial law issued by the International Chamber of Commerce. Focuses on: (1) the Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees (URDG); (2) the eUCP supplement to the Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP-500) for the electronic transmission of documents tendered through letters of credit; (3) the reasons for the lack of success of the URDG and the eUCP; and (4) the International Standard Banking Practice for the Examination of Documents (ISPB) pertaining to documentary credits, and its related weaknesses.
