En medio de una grave crisis social y de inseguridad que conmociona a los ecuatorianos, los jóvenes son el grupo etario más afectado. En ese contexto, la presente investigación buscó determinar los contenidos que consumen los jóvenes de los sectores más empobrecidos de la ciudad de Guayaquil, tanto en la televisión como a través de la tecnología streaming (redes sociales o plataformas por suscripción). Tras aplicar una encuesta en barrios altamente vulnerables -y utilizando el coeficiente de correlación de Spearman- se concluyó que la mayoría prefiere el streaming y que un gran número consume contenido violento.
In the midst of a serious social and insecurity crisis that shocks Ecuadorians, young people are the most affected age group. In this context, the present investigation sought to determine the content consumed by young people from the most impoverished sectors of the city of Guayaquil, both on television and through streaming technology (social networks or subscription platforms).
After applying a survey in highly vulnerable neighborhoods -and using Spearman’s correlation coefficient- it was concluded that the majority prefer streaming and that a large number consume violent content.
