El siglo XIV fue una centuria muy convulsa para la corona de Castilla, especialmente durante el reinado de Pedro I. La Iglesia no quedó al margen de estos problemas, especialmente en un momento en el que el centralismo aviñonense y los prelados locales chocaban con la política religiosa del rey. En este contexto, presentamos un estudio sobre el francés Pierre Raymond de la Barrière, obispo de León entre 1360 y 1361, analizando su figura y obra, así como las fuentes documentales que nos permiten conocer las acciones que llevó a cabo durante su dilatada carrera eclesiástica.
The 14th century was a very turbulent century for the crown of Castile, especially during the reign of Pedro I. The Church was not left out of these problems, especially at a time when the centralism of Avignon and the local prelates clashed with the king’s religious policy. In this context, we present a study about the french Pierre Raymond de la Barrière, bishop of León between 1360 and 1361, analyzing his figure and work, as well as the documentary sources that allow us to learn about the actions he carried out during his long ecclesiastical career.
