En este artículo se estudian una serie de contratos (inéditos) de traslado de piedra desde la cantera de Los Portillos hasta la obra de la iglesia Mayor de Santa María de Cazorla que se conservan en el Archivo Histórico Provincial de Jaén (Protocolos de Cazorla), en los que se descubre el nombre, hasta ahora desconocido, del maestro mayor de las obras de dicha Iglesia desde 1578, Gabriel Ruiz Tauste así como los nombres de todas las personas que intervienen en los contratos para la obra de Santa María de Cazorla, costeándola en concreto los Arzobispos de Toledo por medio de su Vicario Eclesiástico y el mayordomo de fábrica.
This article studies a series of (unpublished) contracts for the transfer of stone from the Los Portillos quarry to the work of the main church of Santa María de Cazorla that are preserved in the Provincial Historical Archive of Jaén (Protocols of Cazorla), in which the name, hitherto unknown, of the greatest master of the works of said Church since 1578, Gabriel Ruiz Tauste, is discovered, as well as the names of all the people who intervene in the contracts for the work of Santa María de Cazorla, paying for it specifically the Archbishops of Toledo through their Ecclesiastical Vicar and the factory butler.
