Este artículo trata sobre matrimonios, en los que la mujer es mexicana y el hombre es de otra nacionalidad. A través de una metodología etnográfica se describe la composición sociodemográfica en este tipo de parejas, así como la dinámica cultural al interior de sus familias. La investigación se delimitó en los matrimonios en los que la mujer era mayor de edad que su pareja al menos un año. Se encontró que, en estas parejas, la mujer casi siempre emigra de México hacia el país de su esposo. Este movimiento migratorio significa un ajuste cultural en un país nuevo para ella. Se trata de un estudio exploratorio que intenta comprender la hegemonía y dinámica cultural en estas uniones civiles. Se utilizó una metodología cualitativa y virtual para acercarse conocer el fenómeno, para lo que hemos contactado a treinta y cinco parejas interculturales hipógamas.
This paper is about marriages, in which the woman is Mexican and the man is of another nationality. Through an ethnographic methodology, the sociodemographic composition of this type of couples is described, as well as the cultural dynamics within their families. The research was limited to marriages in which the woman was at least one year older than her partner. It was found that, in these couples, the woman almost always emigrates from Mexico to her husband´s country. This migratory movement means a cultural adjustment in a new country for her. This is an exploratory study that attempts to understand the hegemony and cultural dynamics in these civil unions. A qualitative and virtual methodology was used to get to know the phenomenon, for which we contacted thirty five hypogamous intercultural couples.
